About The Yogi Medic

Lucianna Borba

Lucianna started moving and grooving at 3 years old when her mom enrolled her in ballet class. For Lucianna, it was love at first pirouette! Throughout her childhood she devoted countless hours to dance class and various kinds of exercise with her first job title, at 15 years old, being "dance teacher." At around 20 years old, after life sent her down a different and most challenging path, Lucianna turned to yoga and massage therapy for its calming and healing effects.

For the first 25 years of her adult life she dedicated herself to the discipline of yoga, meditation and massage therapy as well as continuing to enjoy various other fitness modalities like kick boxing, racquetball and weight lifting. Lucianna was known for her healing hands and imagined herself continuing to teach yoga and offer massage therapy for the second half of her life. When the whole world turned upside down in 2020, everything changed. A series of events led to Lucianna deciding to change course and become a Paramedic. Lucianna began her journey toward Medic in 2022 as an EMT and became a full fledge Paramedic in August 2024.

Being a first responder is exciting and fulfilling but can also be a highly stressful job to do day after day. Lucianna found herself wishing she was still practicing and teaching yoga. Yoga never really left her life but it was not the anchor that it once was and she longed for that. First, she began again as the student and started taking classes with a friend...like she had seen so many of her students do over the years. After a while, she knew for sure, she had to teach again. Lucianna reached out to her students via social media and was amazed by the response....they were still there and they still wanted to practice with her. That is how The Yogi Medic came to be. It felt appropriate to have a new name, a symbol for a new beginning and hope for more balance in life.

What I love most about YOGA...

Learn to live in the NOW

The practice of yoga is an effective way to cultivate a sense of self in the present moment. Learn to let go of moments that have already passed, practice pulling your attention away from moments that haven't happened yet...and learn to be fully immersed in the now through breath, awareness, rhythm and movement.

Learn to self regulate

Learning to manage your personal energy happens by calming your nervous system with deep breath, movement and intention. Anyone can do this. Simple practices with profound effects that, when practiced regularly, improve quality of life.

Mobility, Strength, Stretch

Yoga has all the components for a balanced body.

MOBILITY

The body is designed for movement. Explore many variations of joint movements for optimum mobility.

STRENGTH

Effectively build functional strength with postures that require the muscles and joints to work against gravity and body weight.

STRETCH

Lengthen your soft tissues, relieve tension, prevent adhesions and improve circulation for optimum tissue health and pain relief.
